She attended Patten schools and graduated with honors from Patten Academy in 1962. She attended nursing school in Presque Isle and graduated from Jacksonville College as a registered nurse. Patricia practiced her profession in Florida, Massachusetts, Washington, Virginia and Maine. She returned to her hometown in her retirement and lived in the family home on Cedar Street. "Trish" as she was called by family and friends, will be remembered by her longtime friends and neighbors, especially Cecily and Al MacKinnon, Sharon McPhee, Linda Faunce, Rodney Hall, Irene Campbell, Phyllis Middleton, and Ruby Grimes.
It is heartening for us to know that Trish recently accepted Jesus as her personal saviour, which gave her a great measure of peace and serenity. Another bright spot in an otherwise sad event was the decision that she made to be an organ donor.
Patricia is survived by her son, Mark A. Arthurs of Patten; brothers, Richard C. Adams of Maryland; brother, Donald L. Adams of Patten; sister, Roberta (Adams) Moore of Arizona; half sister, Lea (Adams) Reed of North Carolina; and nieces, Lisa Marie (Adams) San Martin of Massachusetts, Mary Anne Finnemore of Missouri and Alexandra A. Adams of Maryland. She is also survived by several great-nieces and cousins.
Patricia was predeceased by her parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; and son, Matthew, who was stillborn. She was also predeceased by her husband, H.C. Arthurs, father of her son, Mark.
Interment will be in the spring at Patten Village Cemetery. (Bangor Daily News posted 11/3/2011)
