CHARLES CITY, IOWA - Abner J. Engelhardt, 86, of 913 Beck St., died Wednesday (March 13, 1996) at the Floyd County Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Messiah Lutheran Church with the Rev. Curt L. Schneider officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Lime Springs.

Friends may call from noon to 9 p.m. today at the Fullerton Hage Funeral Home, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

Abner John Engelhardt was born July 18, 1909, in rural Clayton County.

Survivors include his wife, Vera, of Charles City; two sons, Abner Darryl Engelhardt of Readlyn, and Jerry Engelhardt of Charles City; four daughters, Vicky Davies of Charles City; Nancy Howland of Davenport; Joanie Lukes of Washburn and Debbie Foster of Greene; three brothers, Harry Engelhardt of Chester; Carl Engelhardt of Reno, Nev., and Arthur Engelhardt of Waterloo; two sisters, Ione Meyer of Lime Springs, and Marjorie Granahan of Bellevue; 24 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by three children and five brothers and sisters.
