Emma (Schmidt) Lippincott, 76

March 18, 1878 ~ August 26, 1954

Emma was born March 18th, 1878 on a farm near Cuming City, Nebraska, to Detlef and Anna (Hinz)Schmidt. The farm was six miles north of Blair, Nebraska, and as of 2020 is still in the Lippincott family.

She grew to womanhood in the Cuming City area and on September 27, 1889, she was married to Ephriam Coles Lippincott in Washington County, Nebraska. Ephraim and Emma were both early settlers of this area. They were blessed with five children.

Sadly, Ephraim died in March, 1948, and in 1949, Emma moved into Blair, Nebraska with her daughter Ruth.

During her long life in this community, Mrs. Lippincott was always a staunch member and supporter of the Methodist church. As long as her health permitted, she took an active part in the affairs of her church and she raised a family which, likewise, has been keenly interested in the Methodist activities.

Mrs. Emma Lippincott, 76, a life-long resident of Washington County, NE , passed away suddenly of a heart attack last Thursday evening, August 26th, 1954. She died at her home at 240 West Butler street in south Blair, Nebraska, where daughters Viva (Mrs. H. Lyle Guyer) and Ruth (Miss Ruth Lippincott) cared for her.

Her sons, E. Clark Lippincott, Richard J. Lippincott and Donald T. Lippincott, all of whom farm north of Blair, continued to farm the old homestead. There are sixteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Two brothers also survive her passing. They are Henry Schmidt, of Florence station (in Douglas County, near Omaha, NE) and Otto Schmidt of Norfolk, NE. A sister, Mrs. Margaret Pounds, lives in Blair.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Methodist church with the Rev. Melvon Ireland conducting the services. Burial was made in the Blair cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary. Pallbearers were Clarence Anderson, Rufus Olson, Rudolph Fick, George Badgerow, Louie Mencke and John Sutton.
