Oscar BARNETT was the son of William Schuyler BARNETT and Elizabeth BOLING, farmers who settled in Washington County, Indiana. He was one of 8 children, and brother to Benjamin F. BARNETT, a locally renown lawyer and Judge in Shattuck, Oklahoma.

Oscar married Frances "Fannie" CHANEY in 1903 in Salem, Indiana and they had three or four children: Florence "Joyce", Frances (who died shortly after birth), William and/or Millard O. BARNETT. [Birth records are erred].

According to the 1920 U. S. Census, this family lived in Shattuck, Oklahoma and Oscar worked in the oil fields. By 1930, he was divorced and living near his family in Los Angeles, California where he was a car salesman before returning to Shattuck, where he passed.
