Frederick T. Wells married Jane Bement 22 Feb., 1837 in Newark Valley and they had three children: Henry Lyman; Lucius Edwin; William Frederick. The family lived in Newark Valley, where Frederick was a farmer. About 1856 they adopted a baby girl, Altha Jones.

He died 21 April 1847. She died 19 July 1852. He had by his first wife, eight children, and by the second, one:
IX. Jane, b 14 Aug., 1816, m with Major Frederick Theodore Wells, and still lives in Newark Valley.
