Mary Lee Pitts, age 84 of Pensacola, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2011. She was a wonderful pastor's wife of 50 years and a Sunday school teacher for many years. Mary was a homemaker who enjoyed sewing and taking care of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, James A. & Mary E. Johnson; husband, Reverend Robert Reed Pitts, Jr.; and daughter, Judy Jones.
Survivors include three children, Robert Reed Pitts, III (Beverly), Karen McGarrity (Rev. Terry), and Mary Elizabeth Purdy (Robert); special son-in-law, Gordon Jones; brother, James L. Johnson (Judy); 8 grandchildren, Kristi Jones-Guerin (John), Kimberly Jones, Jason R. Purdy (Elena), Leann M. Purdy, R. Reed Pitts, IV, Amanda Insco, Matthew & Joshua McGarrity; 5 great grandchildren, Jennifer Riche, Christopher & Nicholas Alonso, Colin Guerin & Landon Pitts; many special nieces and nephews, cousins and several great nieces and nephews;
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 7, 2011 at Pensacola Worship Center on W Street with Rev. Randy Isbell officiating and Pastor Josh Henson assisting. Interment will follow in Bayview Memorial Park.

Russell Lee Henderson is Mary Lee's biological father. He died in 1933 when she was young. Her
mother, Mary E (Huff), remarried James A Johnson, thus the reference in Mary Lee Pitts' obit to him as her father. I suspect Mary Lee got "Lee" as her middle name from her biological father.
