The deceased was the only child of John Jacob and Mary (Harmon) Wier and was born at Martinsburg, West Virginia, on Nov. 14, 1855. He resided there until he was 16 years old, when the family moved to Blair county and he had been a resident of this county ever since. For the past fourteen years he was a resident of Duncansville and prior to 1920, resided for thirteen years at Newry. For many years he was a freight conductor on the Pittsburgh division of the Pennsylvania railroad, but severed his connection with the Pennsy before attaining the age of retirement.
On March 17, 1884, he was united in marriage with Miss Martha Fields of Bennington, who survives, together with two daughters, Mrs. Mary K. Rice of Lima, O., and Mrs. Edward Staines of Duncansville. Another daughter predeceased him. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the home, with Rev. L. D. Ott, pastor of Hicks Memorial Methodist church of that place, officiating.
Interment will be made in Carson Valley cemetery.
