Delbert (better known to many as Poppy) was married to Bonnie Gettings. They had one child that died at birth. They adopted a daughter when the girl was a little older. Poppy was a very spunky man that lived life to the fullest. He had a garden every summer that was huge. They canned alot but he always had vegetables and melons for anyone that wanted them. He took care of his garden by himself. The summer before he passed he still had his huge garden (he was 97)
He loved to tell stories. We all would just sit and listen to them. Some of his stories were so far fetched but, listening to him tell them was always so fun. Some of his stories he told over and over again but we always listened like it was the first time we ever heard them.
