Harold Lavern "Bill" Davis, 53, of Joplin, died at 11:50 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Regional Medical Center after a long illness.

Mr. Davis was born May 26, 1935, in Joplin, and was a lifetime resident. He was employed for 10 years by Peerless Equipment Co., Joplin, and for 14 years by Missouri Department of Highways and Transportation, retiring in 1982 due to ill health.

He married Mary Virgin on Nov. 10, 1957, at Duenweg, Jasper County, Missouri. She survives.

Additional survivors include three daughters, Nancy Clifton, Rt. 6, Joplin, Melissa Henderson, Carterville and Marcella Davis, of the home; two brother, Henry Davis and Harley Davis, both of Rt. 2, Seneca, and five grandchildren.

Services will be announced by Parker Mortuary, Joplin.
