Laverne was the paternal gr.mother of my 3 Moore children, her only son, Billy, left her body to science so this is a memorial to her. Laverne was such a good, hard working, woman and always considered herself still married to Jimmy Moore, she never married again after their divorce. Jimmy worked for the RR in Memphis so he loved to hang out in the bars and womanize which was definitely not a scene for Laverne. She raised her son alone from the time he was age 7 until he married me at age 18 and we moved to our own place. Laverne had very strong Christian feelings and was very loyal to the Bible and those she loved. She never missed a church service and since she never learned to drive she always walked or took the city bus everywhere she went in Memphis, daily to work and home, to church, to the grocery store, etc.
Laverne was also a loving and good gr.mother to my children. She worked at a shoe store most of her life standing on her feet in heels because it was required of her. She bought her gr.children most of their shoes when they were small and they were good shoes, not cheap stuff that was soon worn out. She was probably the most frugal person I've ever known. I know she will be missed by many who loved her including me, her x dau.'nlaw...Kay.
