Jose was born in San Ignacio,Mexico,prior to
the Holguin Family moving and settling in El
Paso,where Jose was raised and attended school.
Jose was 17 years,6 months and 29 days old
when he enlisted in the Marines 21 March
1966 in El Paso.Jose graduated from the San
Diego MCRD,March 1966,with Platoon 280.
Upon arriving in Vietnam,Jose was assigned to
Lima Company,3rd Battalion,4th Marine Regi-
ment,3rd Marine Division.
Jose died as a result of a gunshot wound to
the chest from enemy rife fire,during an en-
gagement on Hill 124,5 kilometers northwest
of Cam Lo,while particpating in Operation Prairie I.
Jose was single and served his country for 11
months and 9 days and was KIA#9,815.
He was 18 years,6 months and 9 days old.
Survived by his parents;Jose and Maria C
Holguin Sr,of 2930 Otyokwa Way,El Paso,TX.
