Dorothy Cook Fields, 94, of St. Albans died at home Oct. 16, 2003, from congestive heart failure.She was born Feb. 26, 1909, in Amma, the daughter of the late Ulysses Grant and Fannie Shamblin Cook. She was the last remaining in her immediate family of four brothers and four sisters. Dorothy was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Luster D. Fields in 1993.She was a member of Highlawn Baptist Church, St. Albans, a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a mother and a friend to all. Dorothy was a poet and her book "Whispers, Daydreams, and Twilight Memories" was published in 2002.She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Cora Fields of Cattletsburg, Ky., and Jack and Diane Fields of Cross Lanes; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday Oct. 19, at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans with Dr. Joe Hyde officiating. Entombment will be in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, St. Albans.Condolences may be sent to [email protected] family expresses special thanks to her cardiologist of 28 years, Dr. William Carter and to her primary care physician, Dr. Jon Murphy for their care and friendship.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Highlawn Baptist Church, 2304 Jefferson Ave., St. Albans, WV 25177; or Kanawha Hospice Care Inc., 1143 Dunbar Ave., Dunbar, WV 25064.Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, 409 Sixth Ave., St. Albans is in charge of arrangements.
