He was born on May 1, 1922, in Menomonie, Wis., to Robert and Margaret Williams. Otis graduated from Boyceville High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and saw action in five major battles of the European theater, receiving the Silver Star in the service of his country.
Otis married Lorrayne Young on June 5, 1943, in Baltimore, Md. He worked his whole life as a finishing carpenter and spent 27 years with Market & Johnson of Eau Claire before retiring to the Balsam Lake area. Otis was a member of Holy Trinity United Methodist Church of Balsam Lake and Centuria and was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign War.
He enjoyed fishing, gardening, furniture making, traveling and spending time with his coffee buddies and grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Lorrayne of Balsam Lake; four children, Bob (Donna) Williams of Chippewa Falls, Cheryl (Bernie) Wendt of Chippewa Falls, Dick (Cathie) Williams of Eau Claire and Rocky (Susie) Williams of Elk River, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marlys; and brother, Carroll.
Otis was laid to rest at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, October 9, 2003, at Holy Trinity Methodist Church in Balsam Lake, with Rev. Paul Foulke officiating. The organist was Alice Schneider and the soloist was Dale Rousch. Casketbearers were Curt Williams, Opie Williams, Walker Williams, Mark Wendt, Kevin Stocking and Kyle Ward.
Rowe Funeral Home in Centuria assisted the family.
