Gloria retired from Southern Bell where she spent her entire working career. She started on the local switchboard in Albany, Georgia answering "number please" while in high school. She moved to Atlanta around 1965 and held many positions, including traveling state-wide as a quality control advisor and trainer for Southern Bell. For several years she helped coordinate annual meetings for Georgia Telephone Pioneers. Gloria loved ballroom dancing, starting when she was thirteen years old and was active until her health started failing about five years ago. She and James met at a ballroom dance class in Atlanta and were married in June 1999. Gloria was devoted to taking care of her home, her late husband Paul Hayes, who died in November 1994; and her surviving husband, James. She and James enjoyed travelling on senior bus trips to many locations throughout the United States. After her late husband Paul died, she told the organizer of the bus trips "Don't let this bus leave without me on it!" She was a very private person, but loved life to the fullest. Gloria was a member of Lawrenceville Road United Methodist Church. Arrangements by Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3150 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, GA
