Robert Vail Goodburn, age 67, of Spring Lake passed away Monday, September 19, 2005, at his home. He was born June 15, 1938, to George and Mary (Helms) Goodburn in Hersey, Michigan; and he married Elaine Pearl Collins October 14, 1961 in Millersburg, Ohio. Mr. Goodburn served in the United States Army and had been a diesel mechanic for Ryder Truck Rental and was formerly a driver for R&K Express. He moved to the Tri-Cities area from Hersey 40 years ago and he attended Spring Lake Presbyterian Church. Mr. Goodburn enjoyed motorcycling, traveling, woodworking, hunting, and camping. Survivors include his wife Elaine P.; two daughters, Gwen (Ernie) Grabman and Joy (Terry) Robertson both of Grand Haven; his son James (Judy) Goodburn of Grand Haven; six grandchildren: James, Cody, Molly, Jamie, Jasmine, and Jeremy; four sisters: Dorothy Collins of Butler, Missouri; Kay (Raymond) Lisco of Holiday, Fla.; Cheryl Maxon of Rodney, Mich.; Nancy (Don) Adams of Hersey, Mich.; two brothers, Walter Goodburn of East Jordan, Tim (Karen) Goodburn of Tyngsboro, Mass.; and nieces and nephews. Mr. Goodburn was preceded in death by his grandson Adam Goodburn; his parents, and stepmother Josephine (Lambert) Goodburn; and brother Edward Goodburn. A Memorial service for Mr. Goodburn will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday at Spring Lake Presbyterian Church with Rev. Daniel Anderson officiating. Friends may meet the family 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Thursday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake. Memorials to Hospice of North Ottawa Community or Spring Lake Presbyterian Church are appreciated.
