Dorothy J. Staff, a twenty-six year resident of the area, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2011 at Orange Regional Medical Center in Middletown at the age of 82. Daughter of the late William and Josephine Stephens Godfrey, she was born July 7, 1929 in Yonkers, NY. Dorothy was the widow of Herbert S. Staff.
A family statement reads, "The family would like to thank Dr. Singh, Dr. Kondaqunta and Dr. Ronen of Crystal Run Healthcare for the compassionate and thoughtful care extended to Dorothy."
Survivors include her daughter Florence Fischer of Londonderry, NH; her sons: Richard Staff of Charlotte, NC, Robert Staff of Farmington, CT, and William Staff of Charlotte, NC; her brother William Godfrey of Yonkers, NY; her sisters: Eleanor Godfrey of Yonkers, NY, & Anne Bianchetta of Miami, FL; 15 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband Herbert, daughter Barbara Garnett and her sister Florence Cottle.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM on Monday, November 7, at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush, Inc. Funeral Home, 117 Maple Avenue, Monroe. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, November 8 in the funeral home with Pastor Donald Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Seamanville Cemetery, Monroe.
