Funeral services were held at the Providence Baptist church south of Monticello for Willie S. Wallace, member of a widely known Lawrence county family, who died at his home at Jayess after a critical illness of eleven weeks. Mr. Wallace was seventy-three.
The Rev. C. W. Martin and the Rev. Clyde Wilson had part in the services. Mr. Wallace was buried in the Providence church cemetery. He was a Methodist.
He leaves his wife, Mrs. Mary L. Wallace; two sons, Carlos Wallace of Monticello and Delton Wallace of Jayess; six brothers: Laney, Jim, R. D., Jesse and Pressie Wallace, all of Jayess and Henry Wallace of Ruth; two sisters: Mrs. Lizzie Morgan of Monticello and Mrs. Lula Russell of Jayess; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He also leaves a host of friends who could say "An honest man is the noblest work of God."
