Nashville Mayor, Author. He served as Mayor of Nashville, Tennessee from 1825 to 1826. A journalist, he was editor of several newspapers including "The Orthopolitan." He was a Grand Master of the Masons. He was the author of the "Freemason's Manual," "Sketches of the History of Literature" and "Sketches of the History of Roman Literature." He lived out his later years in complete blindness.
