In the 1900 census he was born Oct 1897 and was living in Eastport with his parents and grandfather Enoch Bogrette. He was was age 3 and his father was a merchant and the family resided on south Clark Street.

His middle name was Morton (Draft registration). In 1917 he was a machinist and had a mother Carrie Mabee and resided Eastport.

Married Sarah Katherine Tooze Aug 13, 1919 in New Brunswick. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts and was age 22 and Ashton was 21. Her parents were William and Catherine Tooze.

In addition to son John Francis linked he had a son Robert G. born 1924.

In 1930 he was 33 and had the two children, John age 10 and Robert age 5. He and Sarah resided with his parents Fred and Carrie Mabee in Eastport along with his brother Wallace Mabee. Ashton and his brother had a retail jewelry store in Eastport. Both sons were living with them in the 1940 census and Ashton was working on a WPA project as chief clerk and his parents were also still in the household in Eastport.
