Services will be Tuesday, November 8, 2011 1:00 p.m., at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery with Neal Flum officiating.
Mrs. Abernathy was a member of the Central Church of Christ.
Preceded in death by her parents, Otis & Eva Pope; husband, M.T. Abernathy, Jr. and a sister, Mavoline Boyd.
Survived by two sons, Joe Mack Abernathy (Donna) and John Abernathy (Lynn) both of Athens; daughter, Joan Watkins, (T. Bird) of Athens; five grandchildren, Elisha Esterly of Athens. Staci Abernathy of Calera, AL, Clint Abernathy, Gabe Abernathy and Anna Marie Watkins all of Athens; four great-grandchildren, Brodie Esterly, Ethan Abernathy, Jasper Abernathy all of Athens and Davis Abernathy of Calera, Al.; several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Hospice of Limestone County or the American Cancer Society.
