Roger was born in Nashua on July 30, 1926, a son of the late Donat and Roseanna (Cote) Lagasse.
He was the widower of Marie P. (Lavoie) Lagasse who died March 16, 2011. They had shared 49 years of marriage.
Roger was a lifelong Nashua resident and he was educated in local schools. Because of his family's hard times, he had to leave school to help with the care of his large family. In his early years his first job was at Indian Head Mill Works as a laborer.
Roger enlisted in the US Army in 1950 and served with the 445th Ordinance Ammo during the Korean War until his honorable discharge in 1956. He received the Korean Service Medal with 1 Bronze Star and the United Nations Service Medal.
After returning from the military, Roger followed in his father's and brother's footsteps and took a job with the Pennichuck Water Works Co. He remained employed with the company for approximately 40 years. He was very proud of his position and made many friends who he still stayed in contact with throughout the years.
One of his favorite pastimes after work was coaching for the women's softball team "The Red Sox." It was a fast pitch all-girls softball league which included two of his daughters, Marie and Doris. Roger was very proud of his team especially after they won 2 consecutive championships.
After his employment with the water company, he and his wife Marie retired to Florida and lived there for 17 years. Roger at that time took a part-time job doing security work for they association that they lived in. He loved driving around in his golf cart and making sure everyone was safe after dinner hours. His hobbies included fishing, gardening, motorcycling and never missing a "Red Sox" game. He also loved caring for his numerous pets.
His most enjoyable times were spent with his family and many friends from Nashua to Palm Beach Gardens in Florida. Roger was a kind, loving and generous man with a very easygoing and warm personality. He will truly be missed by his family and friends.
He was predeceased by a son, Paul Lagasse; five brothers, Henry Lagasse, Alfred Lagasse, Rene Lagasse, Hervey Lagasse and Maurice Lagasse; and three sisters, Admonse Marquis, Fern Boutin and Anna Guilmain.
