Leo H. Shay, 85, of Jacksonville died Monday, Oct. 13, 2003, at Modern Car Convalescent Facility. He was born March 29, 1918, in Beardstown, the son of John and Anna Shelton Shay. He married Doris Rolfe in 1943 in Townsville, Queensland, Australia; she died in 1992. Mr. Shay was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He served in the Pacifric, mainly in Australia, and played on an all-star baseball team. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 1982. He was a member of Central Christian Church, American Legion, American Postal Workers Union and Die Hard Cub Fan Club. Survivors: a daughter, Marian (husband, Donald) Seymour of Arenzville; a son, Robert A. (wife, Pam) Shay of Rochester; four grandchildren; and a brother, Carl Shay of Springfield. Services: 1 p.m. Thursday, Cody and Son Memorial Home, Jacksonville. Burial: Diamond Grove Cemetery.
