Mrs. Agnes Rae Poole, 89 years old, died at 9 o'clock Sunday evening at the home of her niece, Miss Gertrude Wilson, 605 Main street, Irwin, with whom she had resided for the past 15 years. A daughter of the late James and Jean Shields Crookston, she was born at Greenock August 27, 1862 and was the last surviving member of her original family, which was a pioneer in the Irwin community. She moved to Irwin when four years old and received her early education there. Following the death of her husband and son, she was employed for eight years at the Joseph Horne store in Pittsburgh, later moving to Pittsburgh's North Side, where she was in charge of the linen department at Boggs and Buhl for 28 years. While residing in Pittsburgh, she was active in church and civic affairs. She was a member of the First Methodist Church of Irwin, attending services regularly until becoming confined to her room several years ago. Besides Miss Wilson, she is survived by eight nieces and six nephews. Friends are being received at the Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main street, Irwin, where services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon by her pastor, Rev. James A Gaiser. Interment will be in the Irwin Union cemetery, with six grand-nephews serving as pall-bearers.
