Theresa V. Firkus, 92, formerly of 3100 Ellis St., died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2003, at the Portage County Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, with the Rev. Al Jakubowski officiating. Burial will be in the Guardian Angel Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. The Shuda Funeral Chapel is assisting the family. A memorial has been established to St. Stanislaus Parish in lieu of flowers.
Theresa was born on Feb. 3, 1911, in Callan, to the late Joseph and Anastasia (Wanta) Kluck. She attended Galloway schools and then moved to Milwaukee, where she was married to Louis Firkus on July 18, 1933, at St. Matthew's Church. They moved to Stevens Point in 1948. She and her husband founded and ran the Firkus Tile Co. until retirement in 1970. They then lived in Eagle River for ten years before returning to Stevens Point. Louis died on April 17, 1996.
Theresa enjoyed cooking, fishing and spending time with family and friends. She was an avid Packers fan.
She is survived by three sisters, Gladys Helminski of Neenah, Patricia Arnold of Phoenix, and Barbara (Thomas) Gailey of El Paso, Texas; and two brothers, Hubert (Lucille) Kluck of Tucson, Ariz., and Eugene "Chink" Kluck of Stevens Point. She was preceded in death by 10 brothers and two sisters.
