Death of 24-year-old ruled accidental
MANITOWOC—County Coroner Marion Cumming has ruled the death early Sunday, in Manitowoc, of a rural Cato man as accidental due to carbon monoxide fumes in a closed defective vehicle.
A brother, residing in the 1300 block of S. 16th St., found the body of Mark J. Karl, 24, Route 2, Cato, in the vehicle, parked in the block, according to the Police Department report. An autopsy was conducted.
Cumming said the body of the vehicle was rusted through on the bottom in spots and that the exhaust system was also faulty. This allowed carbon monoxide fumes to enter the closed vehicle.
