OBITUARY
Albert Hawes Powers
WESTPORT, Aug. 2O — Albert Hawes Powers, 54, of 119 East 40th Street, New York City, a publishers' representative and press syndicate official, died at his Compo Cove summer cottage Saturday after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage.
Powers, who left the University of Texas to serve as a naval aviator with the rank of ensign in World War 1, worked as a reporter on several Texas newspapers before joining his brother in the New York firm of Joshua B. Powers. Inc., international publishers' representatives.
Powers traveled extensively in Central and South America for the flrm, and lived in Buenos Aires from 1933 until 1943.
He also was vice president and treasurer of the Editors' Press Service syndicate.
Surviving are his widow, Zara Serbia Powers, and his brother, Joshua Powers.
Funeral services and burial will be in Westport Monday.
