SWEETSER — Mr. Melvin A. Imler, 89, died at 2:21 p.m. Tuesday, November 8, 2011 in Marion General Hospital. He was born in Marion, Indiana to the late Ernest and Anna (Fenstermaker) Imler. He married Edith Street on January 17, 1943. She survives.

He retired from RCA in 1984 after 34 ½ years, where he worked in maintenance. Melvin was a United States Navy World War II veteran and a member of Sunnycrest United Methodist Church. He was a former Boy Scout Leader who enjoyed fishing, camping and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Edith Imler, Sweetser; sons, Jim (Connie) Imler Marion, Ron (Norma)Imler, Converse; grandchildren, Robert Imler, Kimberly (Sandy) Burke; great-granddaughter, Emily Burke

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Anna Imler; brothers, Charles and Fredus Imler; sister, Darlene Legg.

Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2011 with one hour visitation prior to the service in Sunnycrest United Methodist Church, 1921 W. Bradford St., Marion, Indiana with Pastor Charles Ternet officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory, Marion, Indiana (Huntington County)

Visitation will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, November 11, 2011 in Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Avenue, Marion, IN 46952
