AUGUST E. RIESTER,
CIVIC LEADER, DIES
Was President of Broad-
View Savings & Loan
August E. Riester, president of the Broadview Savings & Loan Co., and vice president of the Riester & Thesmacher Co., sheet metal workers, died late yesterday at St. John's Hospital.
He had been in ill health for two years and had been in the hospital since suffering a heart attack Feb, 23.
Mr. Riester was born here Aug. 29, 1873. With the late George F. Thesmacher, he founded the Riester & Thesmacher Co., in 1900. In 1919 he helped organize the Broadview Savings & Loan Co. and was made president and a director.
Active in charitable organizations, he had been chairman of the advisory board of Parmadale Orphanage since it was founded in 1925. He was also a trustee of the Catholic Charities Corp. and a member of several committees of the Welfare Federation.
Mr. Riester was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, the Chamber of Commerce and the Cleveland Rotary Club.
He lived at 6645 State Road, Parma. Surviving him are his wife, Pauline; a son, Chester; a daughter, Mrs. Irene Vidmar; a brother, Frank; a sister, Mrs. John MacArthur, and two grandchildren.
