Son of Charles Willard and Lillian Alexander. He was killed in action on October 9, 1918 during World War I. He enlisted in the United States Army on April 9, 1918. He was a Private in Company B, the 59th Infantry, 4th Division at the time of his death. No information has been found at the time of this writing in December, 2013 about the military action and location where he was killed. The 59th Infantry was organized in 1917 by a transfer of men from the 4th Infantry. It saw hard fighting as a part of the 4th Division in Champaign in the Aisne-Marne engagement, in Lorraine at St Mihiel and at the Meuse-Argonne. In the Aisne-Marne offensive the regiment did gallant service against the Chateau-de-Diable north of the Vesle River.
