Lillian was the oldest continuous member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, and played the organ there for many years. She loved playing cards, crocheting, and was very active in the North Ottawa County Council on Aging. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society, and she received The Night of 100 Stars Tri-Cities Star Award for volunteering and citizenship.
Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Blanchard of Manistee; three sons: Chester A. Cook, Charles W. Cook, both of Grand Haven, and Darrel "Jake" E. (Nancy) Cook of Holland; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three granddaughters: Maryann and Marylou Blanchard, and Marykay Cook; a great-grandson, Richard Cook; a daughter-in-law, Shirley Cook; and a son-in-law, Franklin Blanchard.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 15, 2011 at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. Daniel DePew presiding. Visitation will be held from 4-8 PM Wednesday at VanZantwick Bartels Kammeraad Funeral Home in Spring Lake and 1 hour prior to the service at church on Thursday. Interment will take place in Spring Lake Township Cemetery. Memorial contributions in memory of Lillian may be given to St. Mary's Catholic Church.
