Robert Yahnke, age 61 of Lakeville and formerly of Northfield, passed away on Monday, November 7th at his home following a long illness.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 11, 2011 at 2:00 pm at the Main Street Moravian Church in Northfield. Burial will take place in the Oaklawn Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 10th from 3 to 7 pm at the Bierman Funeral Home in Northfield and on Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Robert Edward Yahnke, the son of Robert and Dorothy (Mackey) Yahnke was born on August 4, 1950 in Shakopee, MN. Robert graduated from the Northfield High School in1968. He enlisted in the Navy and served from 1970 until 1974.
Robert was united in marriage to Penny Lord on June 9, 1979 in Northfield. Robert was employed at St. Olaf College until his illness. He loved to read, do crossword puzzles and spending time with his family. He was waiting very anxiously for the birth of his first grandchild. Robert was a member of the VFW and past member of the Northfield Eagles.
Robert is survived by his wife, Penny of Lakeville; son, Joshua Yahnke of Lakeville; daughter, Anna ( Nate) Feder of North Mankato; four brothers, Jerry (Karen) Hobbs of Prior Lake, Jim (Julie) Yahnke of Owatonna, Mike (Karen) Johnson of Dundas and Jeff (Debra) Johnson of Dundas; sister, Lanette (Jim) Gavney of Martinsberg, West Virginia and other relatives. He is preceded in death by his parents.
