Alvin was born to Charles William & Lou Veda (Hibbitts) Asher on Feb. 11, 1935 in Maplesville, Laurel County, Ky.

He was raised in London, Ky. As a boy he was a hard worker. For fun he loved to fox hunt with his dog 'Shorty'. There was many a night he would sleep under the leaves because Shorty was on a scent.

While home on leave in 1957, Alvin met the love of his life and future bride of 50 years; Carole Sue Shell. After being discharged in 1960 he came to Prineville to make his home after marrying Carole on June 18, 1960 in Prineville.
