DEATH OF N. A. BRYAN
The death of Newton A. Bryan, 83 years of age, took place at the Masonic Home, Nashville, Tenn., Saturday, September 9, 1922, after an illness ot carcinoma, and the remains were shipped to Union City and taken to the home of his son, W. L. Bryan, Ury street.

Deceased was born in Georgia in 1839. He was reared there and enlisted from Georgia in the army of the Confederate States, serving during the four years struggle with an honorable and valiant record.

After the war he located in Sumner County, Tenn., and was there united in marriage to Miss Telitha Blair in 1866 moving to West Tennessee in 1872. Here they located in Civil District Number Seven of Obion County, and lived there, with the exception of a short time in Weakley County, until Mrs. Bryan's death thirty-two years ago.

After that Mr. Bryan resided for some time with his children, and when they moved away he went to Nashville to live with his former comrades and Masonic friends in the Masonic Home.

The union in Middle Tennessee was blessed. Ten children were born, six of whom are living as follows W. L. Bryan, Union City; Gus Bryan, Oklahoma; Miss Kate Bryan,, Mrs. Mel Smith, Rives; M. D. Bryan, Memphis; Norbert Bryan, Ripley, Tenn.

Mr. Bryan was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church and for many years followed the pursuit of farming, a good citizen, honored and esteemed, a man of good name and true, finally in the fullness of years and ripe in character, passing as a patriarch to the bosom of his Maker at the Throne of Peace.

Tne remains were conveyed on Sunday afternoon to the Stovall cemetery in Number Seven, with services by Rev. J. H. Thomas and burial with Masonic honors.
