Born in Wayne County, Ky to John and Emerine Hancock Guffey, he was employed as a maintenance welder for the Hamilton Fisher Body Plant 17 years, retiring in 1969. He married Sophie Hamilton in Leslie County, Ky.
Mr. Guffey is survived by his wife, Sophie Guffey, Hamilton; three sons Donald Guffey and James Guffey of Hamilton and Paul Guffey of Fairfield; two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Jean) Burns and Mrs. Dale (Judy) Combs both of Hamilton; three sisters, Mrs. Vinnie Davis of New Castle, Ind; Mrs. Marie Blevins and Mrs. Lee Abbott, both of Monticello, Ky, and 13 grandchildren.
Services for Mr. Guffey will be at 2pm Tuesday at the Engle Funeral Home, Hazard, Ky. Burial, Riverside Cemetery, Hazard. Visitation 5-8pm Sunday at the Brown Dawson Funeral Home, 330 Pershing Ave., Hamilton, and at the funeral home in Hazard, Ky., after 2pm Monday.

Grandmother: Nancy Allcorne Guffey 1856-1918
