Carl F. Raines, 52, his son, Walker Saunders Raines, 9, and his daughter, Johanna Gordon Raines, 18, were victims of the flood. Mrs. Raines is still listed as missing.
Mr. Raines was born in Elkton, a son of the late Virginia Saunders and Asa Warren Raines. He was the general manager for Higgs and Young Inc. at Massies Mill. He was a veteran of World War II, a member of Massies Mill Ruritan Club, the Men's Club of Nelson County, and Nelson County Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by one daughter, Ava Lynne Raines of Lynchburg; two sons, Carl F. Raines Jr. and Warren H. Raines, both of Massies Mill; one half-sister, Mrs. Lillian Waddill of Piney River.
Walker Saunders Raines and Johanna Gordon Raines are survived by one sister and two brothers and their maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George Gordon, Sr. of Lynchburg.
Arrangements are being handled by the Preston Parr Funeral Home at Roseland.
