Hazel was the only daughter of Herbert Ladson Hull and Sarah Jones Benning; she was the granddaughter of Gen. Henry Lewis Benning and Mary Howard Jones.
Hazel married James Pesse Hubbell in Chicago in 1919; he was an architect, twenty years her senior. Soon after the marriage they moved to Dallas and eventually Fort Worth. They had no children and evidently separated or divorced before 1940. Hazel lived with her mother and brother in Fort Worth until their deaths before moving back to Columbus, Georgia.
