Freeman Haywood Lawson, 82, of Clark Loop, Stuart, died Monday, July 4, 2005, at R.J. Reynolds Patrick County Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Patrick County on July 7, 1922 to the late Daniel and Minnie Scott Lawson. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Lloyd Allen Lawson, and a sister, Erie Joyce.
He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church and was a self-employed mechanic.
Surviving are one daughter, Rachel McBride of Lambsburg; one son, John Freeman Lawson of Bassett; one brother, Clyde Lawson of Stuart; three grandchildren and three nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with the Rev. Gerald Melton officiating. Burial will follow in the Scott-Lawson cemetery.
The family will receive friends tonight (Wednesday) from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
