"The death of H. Greeley Brown of Otego, a former Otsego County Treasurer, occurred Thursday at the Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta following a long illness. He was 85 years of age. Mr. Brown served two terms as Otsego County Treasurer from January 1, 1936 until December 31, 1941. Prior to that he had been a member of the Otego Town Board, and also served as Supervisor from that township. Mr. Brown was born on the old Brown homestead in Otego, a son of Alfred D. and Margaret (Cuyle) Brown. He married Bess Gilbert in Chicago, Ill. in June 1924. He was a farmer and insurance agent by occupation, and a life-long resident of Otego where he was prominent in civic, governmental and fraternal affairs ... He is survived by his wife; two nephews, Garrett Brown of West Hazelton, Pa. and Theodore Brown of Steubenville, O.; and a niece, Mrs. Russell Lutz of Wapwallopen, Pa. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock from St. Matthews Episcopal Church in Unadilla, with the Rector, the Rev. William A. Chamberlain officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery, Otego. A Masonic service was held at 8 o'clock Saturday night at the Bailey Funeral Home in Otego."
