Mr. Robert Mann died at his residence in this city Sunday morning, June 17, 1917, aged 66 years. Funeral services were held at the residence Monday morning at 10:30, conducted by Rev. A. C. Bell. Interment at Oakwood cemetery.
Mr. Mann was born and reared in Haywood county. For many years he was an active and successful farmer but in 1903 he lost his eyesight and soon thereafter moved to Brownsville where he has since resided. In 1871, he was married to Miss Emmie Tanner of this county. Mrs. Mann who was a splendid Christian woman and helpmate, died several years ago. Notwithstanding his great sorrow and affliction, Mr. Mann was a confirmed optimist, always bright, cheerful and read to take the hopeful side even when danger and disaster threatened. He loved his children dearly and with them he was liberal to a fault. He was a consistent member of the Methodist church and a constant attendant to its services. All who knew him respected him and many were his intimate friends. In his dealings with his fellow men he was honest and straight forward at all times. His memory will linger as a blessing and comfort to those who knew him best.
The following children survive him: Clarence and Thomas J. Mann of this city; Dr. Tanner Mann of Dyersburg; Drs. Robert and Hiram Mann of Memphis; Dr. Henry Mann of Colorado Springs; Mrs. H. L. Dupree, Mrs. Albert Carlton and Miss Laura Bradford Mann of Brownsville. To these, in their hour of distress, will go the prayers and sympathy of a large circle of intimate friends.
