Son of Henry Munnerlyn and Emma McNair Jayroe.

MARION - Henry Jayroe, 15 year old son of H. M. Jayroe, was drowned at Galivants Ferry yesterday afternoon at about 3 o'clock. The body was found was found about 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon.

The Jayroe family had gone to the ferry to celebrate the Fourth, and Henry and his younger sister Ruby had gone in bathing in the river. Henry got off of the sandbar beyond his depth. In an attempt to go to his rescue, Ruby got off of the sandbar beyond her depth and came to distress herself.

The father went to the rescue of the two children as quickly as possible, but was only able to save the girl. She was almost in a drowning state when brought from the water, but luckily there was a doctor present who set to work upon her and resuscitated her.

Mr. Jayroe is general foreman of the lumberyard at the plant of the Anderson Lumber Corporation of this city. He was in an exhausted and strangled state when he succeeded in bringing his daughter from the water.

The funeral of Henry Jayroe will be held at 5 o'clock Friday afternoon.
