James A. Barton, 79, retired railroader, died Saturday morning at his home, 1619 W. 15th St. following a long illness.
He was born at Bluffton but had spent most of his life in Muncie. He was a Nickel Plate Railroad employee for 25 years.
He leaves his wife, Mary; two sons, Robert and Troy Barton, both of Muncie; three brothers, Wilbur Barton of Bluffton, Hugh and Henry Barton, both of Muncie; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Parson Mortuary with the Rev. William Lewis Myers officiating. Burial will be in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the residence after 2 p.m. Sunday.
