He was born at St. Mary's Landing, Missouri, August 12, 1840.
He came of New England parentage and belonged to a venerated ancestry.
He became Sergeant of Company F. 93d Regiment of Illinois infantry. Soon after the fall of Vicksburg he was promoted to the Quartermasters department and remained in service to the close of the war.
After the war he went into business at Pittsburg, PA, and remained there for ten years, then he traveled for a year in Europe. He came to Racine in the spring of 1877. He went into business with A. P. Dickey with some nine years. He organized the E. H. Pease Manufacturing Company nearly four years ago.
May 20, 1879, he was united in marriage to Miss Sarah Doolittle, daughter of Hon. James R. Doolittle.
They had five children, four boys and one girl. They survive him along with a sister, Mrs. A. W. Guilbert of Racine.

Racine, Wis., Jan. 25.--E. H. Pease, president of the E. H. Pease Manufacturing Company, died last night, at his home on Park Avenue. He was first attacked by la gripppe, which developed into pnenmonia with fatal results. He was one of the largest manufacturers in this city, and a son-in-law of Judge Doolittle. He was for years with the firm of Dickey & Pease, but several years ago organized the E. H. Pease Manufacturing Company and built large shops at Racine Junction. He leaves a large family.
