MRS. EARL HAMMOND DIES IN COLORADO
Mrs. Earl Hammond of Haviland died March 8 at Four Seasons Nursing Home in
Colorado Springs, Colo. She was 97 years old.
Emma Garner was born February 16, 1881, at Des Moines, Iowa, the daughter of
Watkin and Esther Stubbs Garner. She was married to Earl Hammond July 11,
1900, at Haviland. He died in 1928. She was a former resident of Haviland and
Greensburg, moving to Colorado Springs in 1947. She was a member of the United
Methodist Church and OES both of Haviland.
Survivors include one son, Walter of Syracuse; two daughters, Mrs. Edith
Toadvine of Elkhart and Mrs. Earlene Pew of Colorado Springs, Colorado; five
grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held March 11 at the Haviland Cemetery with OES rites by
the Haviland Chapter No. 402.
Family suggests memorials to the Haviland Methodist Church, in care of the
Haviland State Bank.
