Edwin was a veteran of the Civil War, serving with Company A, 177th Ohio Infantry Regiment. He was a member of the GAR (Grand Army of the Republic).

E. T. COWIN HAS ENTERED INTO ETERNAL SLEEP

E. T Cowin, died at 8:46 o'clock Monday morning at his home, 537 Franklin street, following an illness of nearly two years of progressive muscular atrophy. Funeral services will be held from the home at 3:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon.

Edward T. Cowin was born near Cleveland, in Cuyahoga county, Ohio, and was reared on a farm. He obtained his early mental training in the common school and later attended Cornell college and the University of Michigan.

Mr. Cowin began a soldiers's career at the age of 16 years by enlisting in Company A, 177th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, which was attached to the 22d army corps. He served one year and then was admitted to the bar at Cleveland, Ohio. He began the practice of law in Omaha, Neb. with his brother, General John C. Cowin, one of the most talented lawyers of the west.

Despite his many and varied business interests, Mr. Cowin found time to devote to church work and gave of his efforts toward the upbuilding of Grace Methodist church. He was a church worker and a member to the official board. He was also a member of the Knights of Pythias, the masons and the Grand Army of the Republic.

The late Edward T. Cowin is survived by a widow, Mrs. Rita T. Cox-Cowin, to whom he was married in Beaver, Pa., June 15, 1880. One son, Rhea N. Cowin, and a daughter, Miss Irene Cowin, are also left. Miss Cowin recently entered Mr. Joseph college at Dubuque and was not-at home when death claimed her father.

Two brothers and two sisters are left, as follows: W. C. Cowin, Cleveland, Ohio; General John Cowin, Omaha, Neb.; Mrs. Nellie Miller, Elyria, Ohio; and Mrs. Sophia Glass, Caldwell, Idaho.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 o'clock Wednesday afternoon from the late home, 537 Franklin street. Rev. E. D. Hall, pastor of Grace M. E. church, will officiate, Interment will be in Fairview cemetery.
