OBITUARY
Mrs. Hannah M. Luellen died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. M. R. Ballard, at 848 North Emporia avenue, January 7, 1904, of pneumonia. She was born in the state of New York. August 20, 1822. At the age of 14 she went to Ohio with her parents. There she was married at an early age to Sylvester Luellen. In 1869 they came to Mt. Hope and settled on a farm five miles east of town, which has been her home ever since. For several years she has made her home during the winter months with her daughter in Wichita.
She was the mother of six children three of whom survive her. Mrs. N. R. Ballard, her daughter and Sylvester C. Luellen of Mt. Hope, were with her in her last hours. Brief services were held at the house Saturday morning, January 7, conducted by Rev. Vail. After which the remains were taken to Mt. Hope. The funeral services were held at the M. E. church at 2 o'clock, and then she was laid to rest in Mt. Hope cemetery by the side of her husband.
Mrs. Luellen was a kind and loving mother, a good neighbor, and a devoted member of the M. E. church.
