Born in the Gildersleeve section of Portland, he lived in Rocky Hill 17 years before moving to Berlin. He was a structural steel bridge engineer for the State of Connecticut for 35 years, retiring in 1961. He also served as consultant for several private firms. He was a member of St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church, East Berlin. He was a graduate of Pratt Institute Architectural School of Design. He was a prominent athlete inthe area for many years and was a player in the old Middlesex County Baseball League.
Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Robert A. Werdelin of West Hartford; a daughter, Mrs. Jean W. Olson of Berlin; and two grandsons.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at the Rose Hill Funeral Home, 580 Elm St., Rocky Hill. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours are tomorrow from 7 to 9 p.m.
