Carl was a son of the late Leo and Harriet Moore Carey. He lived at Harveys Lake for the last 37 years. He was employed for 10 years by the Offset Paper Back Co., Fernbrook, Dallas Township until retiring in 1973. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, where he participated in the occupation and defense of Guadalcanal. He served as past commander of the Harveys Lake American Legion Post 967, and was a member of the Alderson United Methodist Church, Harveys Lake; the Pennsylvania State Fire Police; the Harveys Lake Volunteer Fire Co.; and the Wagon Wheel Camping Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Laura Eidelhoff, in 1987. Surviving are his son, Carl "Ken" Carey Jr., Harveys Lake; brothers, Charles "Bud" Carey, Brockton, Mass.; and Glenn Carey, Colorado Springs, Colo.; two grandchildren and one great-grandson; and sisters, Florence Averett, Phoenix; and Joanne Sott, Weibagh, Mont.
