Mr. Benton was born in Putnam County Aug. 28, 1875, and lived in this county all of his life. He was married to Matilda Conine in March, 1898, and she died in 1948. He was a member of the Trinity Methodist Church.
After retiring from the Weather-Seal Manufacturing Co. here five years ago, Mr. Benton made brooms which he sold throughout the county. His death was due to complications which developed after he underwent surgery at Memorial Monday.
Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Edna Vansickle, McComb; Mrs. Florence M. Hefner, Lima; Mrs. Thelma Weller, Russells Point; Mrs. Helen Sharp, Toledo; Mrs. Rosemary Moyer, Rawson; one brother, Oscar Benton, Leipsic; nine grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
