George A. Bankert, 90, one-time superintendent of the old Del Norte municipal light plant, died Tuesday evening at Willowcrest Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at Sharp and Doney Chapel with Rev. Robert Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Del Norte cemetery.
Mr. Bankert came here sixty odd years ago. He had charge of the old steam power plant down by the river until its sale to the power company. After the sale of the plant, he worked as an electrician and wire contractor.
He was born in Astoria, Illinois and came here in the early 1900s. The Bankert's were married in Del Norte in 1922. He and his wife lived for thirty years at Castle Rock, returning to Del Norte three years ago.
He is survived by his wife, Mary, and other relatives.
