Hazel was born on April 26, 1912, in Joplin, Mo., to Bartlett Anderson and Martha Jane Slack. She married Joseph Willard McDonald on Nov. 28, 1931, in Hugo, Okla., and he preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1970. Hazel later married Roy G. Hodges on July 9, 1971, in Wylie, Texas. She has been a resident of Lubbock since 1956 and a member of Bethany Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Roy; son, Jerry C. McDonald and wife, Kay; and daughter, Mary McLean. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; sisters, Dana Jo Simmons and Marie Taylor; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Joe Bill McDonald; a brother, Bartlett A. Slack Jr.; and sisters, Emma Jean Slack and Jimmie Louise Anderson.
